Martini’s
& More: Memories of Gaslight Square
"A St. Louis Lead Prevention Coalition
Fundraiser"
|
|
January
18 - On January
22, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., jazz enthusiasts and Gaslight
Square buffs will come together to enjoy an evening
of music and nostalgic memories. An exciting evening
for all, Martini’s & More features Lady Jazz,
Mae Wheeler, a delicious hors d’oeuvre buffet,
and a special ‘Memories in Pictures’ presentation
of Gaslight Square produced by Bruce Marren and Daniel
Pearlmutter. Author, Thomas Crone, will autograph copies
of his new “Oral History of Gaslight Square,”
and guests will enjoy the comedy styles of Mickey McTague.
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet, mingle and
dance at the Royal Crown Club located at Jefferson and
Dr. Martin Luther King; the former site of the historic
Crown Cafeteria, a renowned soul food restaurant.
The evening will recreate a 1960’s jazz club setting
and those attending will enjoy a club style seating
and retro ambience. In addition to this “walk
down memory lane”, attendance prizes will include
DVD copies of “Gaslight Square: The Forgotten
Landmark,” dinner at O’Learys, copies of
the “Oral History of Gaslight Square,” martini
sets and much more.
All proceeds from the Martinis and More evening benefit
the programs and services of the St. Louis Lead Prevention
Coalition, a bi-state regional coalition working to
end childhood lead poisoning. Tickets are $35 per person
or $60 per couple. Please contact Mari Kay Rogers at
(314) 664-9922 or email her at MariKayRogers@leadprevention.org.
A limited number of tickets will be available at the
door.
