St. Louis, MO, USA - June 5, 2008 – Presented by the Webster-Kirkwood Times, the 8th Annual Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival celebrates the music and cultures of Louisiana. Like the state’s signature dish, gumbo, this year’s festival offers a spicy stew of diverse ingredients from the Big Easy.
Headliner Gumbohead, with its special guest the Funky Butt Brass Band, will highlight the full spectrum of Louisiana dance music, including zydeco, funk, blues, jazz, r&b, brass band and traditional “second line” tunes. Tune in to jazz born in Louisiana, and the soulful holler of blues that was first sung in the Mississippi Delta.
Mark your calendar. Saturday, September 20 promises to be a free, fun-filled family day with ten renowned Midwest bands on multiple stages. From blistering Blues to Big Band, and from New Orleans Zydeco to Swing, the festival covers it all in the historic district of Webster Groves.
