So what makes Al Hammerman's songs so popular? His style has appeal that is far reaching and timeless, combined with words and music that are smart, sophisticated, contemporary and classic. "I find that a good memorable melody, as well as meaningful and sometimes clever lyrics, usually go hand-in-hand making for a great song," remarked Al Hammerman.
In March Al debuted his music in a full-scale concert benefit called "Night After Night" at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis. Fresh, original songs of the composer were performed by a 12-piece orchestra featuring the area's finest vocalists Debby Lennon, Alan Ox, Arvell Keithley, Kim Fuller, along with the St. Louis Muny Kids. While the latter are not a part of the recording, Javier Mendoza, Dawn Turlington, and Vince Martin sing Hammerman's music for the first time on "I Got a Song."

About Al Hammerman
A composer, physician, Washington University educator, collector of antique musical instruments, Al Hammerman is a modern day Renaissance man who is never bored and rarely at a loss for inspiration.
On faculty at Washington University, Hammerman has worked on projects with the performing arts department as well as lent assistance to both local and Off Broadway theater groups. He even did a short free lance advertising stint as a jingle writer.
Called both contemporary and classic, many of Hammerman's charming melodies and clever lyrics quickly capture the heart and imagination of the listener; songs meant to be remembered and endure.
Three movies -- "Becoming Santa," "Demoted," "The Entitled" -- have featured Al's music, which has also been heard on Fox television's "The Good Guys" and CBS's "The Defenders."
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri has been the recipient of all funds raised by Al Hammerman's St. Louis area music efforts. A relationship that "all started with a song" and that has allowed him to gain a much greater meaning and pleasure from his musical endeavors.
